Executive Director
Dr. Mike Steklof
Dr. Mike Steklof is the Executive Director of Hillel of Buffalo, where he fosters an inclusive Jewish community for college students. Passionate about pluralism and student leadership, he joined as Interim Campus Director in April 2024. Previously, he was Senior Director at LiNK Jewish Buffalo, when he enhanced community engagement. Mike holds a Doctorate in Jewish Education and is a board member of many local Jewish organizations. In his free time, he enjoys long-distance running, cooking, and swimming.

Director of Jewish Innovation
Zack Steinberg
Zack, a proud UB alum, moved New York City after graduation to work as a music educator with Tkiya, bringing Jewish experiences to various community spaces. He returned to Buffalo in 2019, serving as a program coordinator, song leader, and cantorial solo at local synagogues. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s in Jewish Professional Studies at the Spertus Institute, focusing on community leadership and organizational development. In his free time, Zack enjoys biking, listening to podcasts, and spending time with his girlfriend Sarah and their cats, Freddie and Lana.

Ryan Piken

Having grown up in Westchester, Ryan’s Jewish journey began her freshman year at the University at Buffalo. Amidst her quest for community, Ryan discovered Hillel, and soon became a student leader. She graduated in May, 2024, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media Studies. With an unbridled passion for music, Ryan can engage in endless discussions about favorite bands, artists, and concerts. Beyond music, she finds joy in exploring Buffalo, spending time with dogs, hitting the gym, reveling in nature, and indulging in crafting pursuits.

Marketing and Development Manager
Lisa Noss
Based in New Jersey, Lisa supports Hillel of Buffalo, UMass Amherst Hillel, and Hillel at Virginia Tech in their fundraising, donor engagement, and communications efforts. She works closely with each campus team to share the impact of Hillel’s work and help ensure the long-term sustainability of Jewish life on campus. Before joining Hillel, Lisa held marketing roles at several national Jewish nonprofit organizations and founded a chronic pain recovery coaching practice inspired by her own personal journey. When she’s not at work, Lisa enjoys biking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Jewish Educator
Rabbi Shlomo Schachter
Rabbi Shlomo grew up in the Jewish Renewal movement as it formed around his father, Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. After playing college football, he spent nine years studying in Israeli yeshivas, trained in acupuncture and reflexology, and coached the Israeli National Football Team. He previously served as Associate Rabbi in Vancouver, BC, and as a Campus Rabbi in Champaign, Illinois. In Buffalo, in addition to his work at Hillel, he serves as the Rabbi of Kehillat Ohr Tzion and as a Jewish Educator for the Buffalo Jewish Federation. You can often find him in the JCC gym or playing Magic: The Gathering with students on campus.

Bookkeeper
Marcy Sikorski
Marcy Sikorski serves as the Bookkeeper for Hillel of Buffalo and the Manager of Finance and Data for the Buffalo Jewish Federation. She brings a strong background in financial management and data systems, supporting both organizations in maintaining accurate records, ensuring accountability, and strengthening long-term sustainability. She previously worked in a variety of finance and administrative roles and is known for her attention to detail and collaborative spirit. When she’s not balancing budgets or analyzing data, Marcy enjoys all things Disney and spending time with her family in Hamburg.
